This commission was a site designated art piece. Celebrating Idaho's state bird, and honoring the clients memories of his grandmother. Nathan recalled fond memories of him and his Grandma Joyce feeding the bluebirds by their home. Nathan and his kids honor her memory by crafting birdhouses: mounting them on fence posts and often giving them away for free to customers and visitors. Gale the bluebird now sits stoicly by Birdhouse storage units, providing a nest of space for all.

On a personal level, this piece radiates my emotions during the hardships of Covid and the world wild turmoil caused by 2020. Within such a chaotic year I felt trapped in my own home and head. I felt powerless to help those who were suffering around me, and longed for a sense of joy and freedom. Overall I longed for a sense of security and the nostalgia of my home pre 2020. However, within this turmoil lays hope, strength and joy over the perseverance of the world around me. Together yet apart, we stayed strong, rising above our circumstances.
